21st Century Rally

You know, if McCain would hold a public rally, as Mr. Barack Obama did Saturday evening in downtown Kansas City, I'd attend. I'd bring my children with me, too, as I did Saturday evening. Maybe we'd stand behind the number 8, as we did Saturday evening, and see what he's like, maybe change my mind, throw my support behind him.

Alas, McCain does not hold public rallies. He was here about two weeks ago, giving a speech before 300 people who had to be invited. It was indoors. In a dark room.

I'm not saying Obama will change the world, nor will many of his policy proposals see the light of day; but you can't dismiss the impressive sight of nearly 100,000 people crowded in a downtown setting, listening to a man who has a way of drawing people together and, yes, believing in something called change.

Whatever that word means.
